Doug Hall

I live in Amherst, MA, with my partner Melissa and as many of our four kids – Nicholas, Rachel, Savana and Jonas – as we can entice to spend time with us. Western Mass is a great place to live and also (fortunately) a great place to ride. Because I now work in Washington, DC, at the Economic Policy Institute (www.epi.org), weekends at home in Amherst are kept pretty full balancing the important things that need to get done (like lawn-mowing), and just relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

My hobbies/interests include cycling, hiking, politics, photography, and reading.

Why is Doug participating?

After several years participating in the Brake the Cycle of Poverty ride, I’m even more convinced that this is a really special group of people with whom I’m very fortunate to get to spend time, even if it’s all too infrequent. I really do think of these people as my "BTC Family”. Together we amuse each other, inspire each other, support each other, and challenge each other to be the best we can be: physically with our cycling mission; spiritually as we do this important piece of "God's work" together; and personally as we grow through this collective experience. The fact that this effort reinforces my professional work, improving the well-being of working families in America is also very important to me. AND, we get to RIDE together! (the icing on the BTC cake).
